Check this out! Extreme Fishing How crazy is this? Brings out a new way to keep fishing entertaining I think. Matt Watson with the help from his buddies and a few beers has thought of new ways to fish for Marlin off the coast of Austria. If you don’t know what a marlin is check out this hyperlink. Marlins can be a very dangerous game fish they can reach speeds of 60 mph and weigh up to 1500 lbs they also have spear like snouts that can reach 3.5 feet in length.
Matt Watson just recently was interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today show in a feature about his extreme fishing, check out this video. Matt Watson’s got allot guts and talent though, cause I’m not sure I could get my dive just right jumping off of a helicopter to grab the surfacing marlin and hold on, let alone get footage of it. I wonder how many times he’s got hurt doing this. The first time I saw this clip I thought of how bad the outcome could be if he didn’t land just right on the marlin, like if he landed too far ahead and the marlin would spoke and gore him by the sword like snout. There are many outcomes that could go wrong with a fish of that size and power. I do think this is pretty impressive though I’m not so sure that Matt has a lot of common sense or he’s really bored. I truly think guys from New Zealand are completely messed up in the head. Just look at the size of the marlin he lands on... it is huge! If you think about it, he was very lucky he did not land on the sail of the marlin. If he did he would have impaled him self on the sail. In the news interview with the guy, he said it took 11 months to get that footage. pulse some of the other stuff that crazy Zealander does is just nuts.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite clear that people are always looking for the next way to get a rush. I’m sure this definitely accomplished that task. I’m not going to deny the fact that he is a little crazy, however, I have to respect how hard of a feat that must be to jump out of a helicopter and grab a marlin. This might seem a little crazy, but really, when one compares it to some of the things seen on TV, one could do a lot worse.
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting to see. It is a little crazy because anyone doing it could easily get hurt. But it is a new way of thinking outside the box. Maybe soon we will start seeing expeditions setup to go do some of these activities. It will be interesting to see the things this guy will try to catch the marlin. It is not something I would try though. But there are probably people out there that will want to try it and I say good luck to those who do.
